What it is, who runs it, the letter, the three steps, the numbers and the logo. Questions and interview requests go to [email protected], in English or Italian.

In one paragraph

d2build is an independent community campaign asking Bungie for a path to player-created activities in Destiny 2. It pairs an open letter with a proposal in three steps, each built on something already in the game, and a gallery where players publish the activities they would build. Signatures are email-verified. The site has no ads and no sponsors, and it is not affiliated with Bungie or Sony.

Facts

What
An open letter to Bungie, a proposal in three steps, and a gallery of activity concepts from the community.
Who
Federico Razza, a Destiny 2 player and software developer in Milan, Italy. No company behind it, no team of employees.
Since
30 September 2026, nine days after Bungie's post “The Next Chapter for Bungie” said the studio is not done with Destiny and that players' voices mattered.
The ask
Step 1: private PvE with the Portal's modifiers and shareable rule codes, no competitive rewards. Step 2: a light encounter editor on existing spaces, with Bungie reviewing what gets featured. Step 3, the horizon: a creation mode, from the studio that invented Forge.
Signatures
Email-verified, one per person. Signers can pledge a role: designer, tester, developer, translator, creator or moderator.
Concepts
Reviewed before publication and credited to their author. Released under CC BY 4.0 so Bungie can read and use them without legal exposure. AI-made images or text carry a label.
Money
None. No ads, no sponsors, no paid features, no cross-site tracking. Costs are covered by the maintainer.
Affiliation
None. d2build is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Bungie, Inc. or Sony Interactive Entertainment.

What it is not

  • Not a protest and not a demand. The letter is an offer of help, addressed to a studio with fewer people than before.
  • Not a petition for Destiny 3, and not connected to any existing petition.
  • Not a promise of tools. Whether and how any step ships is Bungie's call, and the site says openly that step 3 is a multi-year horizon.
  • Not a fan site built on Bungie's art. No screenshots, logos or lore text from the game are used.

Open letter

To Bungie,

On September 21 you wrote that you are not done with Destiny. That you have more worlds to build, and that you need time to do it right. You also wrote that our voices mattered.

We are still here. And we want to help build.

For twelve years this community has designed its own challenges inside your sandbox: solo flawless runs, day-one raid races, custom rulesets, community events you never had to schedule. We have proven that Guardians can design. What we have never had is the tools.

We are asking for a path, in three steps, that lets players create activities in Destiny 2. It starts with what already exists. It grows into a curated program where Bungie reviews and features community-built encounters. And one day it becomes a true creation mode, from the studio that invented Forge.

You have fewer hands than before. We have thousands. Let us build with you.

Guardians make their own fate. Let us make our own activities too.

The three steps

  1. Level 1 · The immediate ask

    Open the sandbox

Custom activities built from pieces that already exist in the game. No new content, no new tools, only permission.

  2. Level 2 · The goal

    Community encounters, under review

A light encounter editor on existing spaces, with Bungie reviewing submissions and featuring the best ones in a Community Playlist.

  3. Level 3 · The horizon

    A creation mode for Destiny

Assemble spaces from asset kits, script full encounters up to entire raids, and share them through an in-game hub.
