The Gilded Carrion

Leviathan, outer hull and underbelly (vaulted, returns with the unvaulting) · Fireteam of 6 · About 105 min

The Leviathan drifts dead and the Scorn have come to skin it. Cross a hull crawling with scavengers, wake Loyalist defenses that no longer know friend from foe, and stop a Chieftain wearing the Emperor's gold from waking what still digests below.

Mechanics

  • 01Totem relay: Chieftains drop their totem on death. Carrying it drains 3% health per second, so pass it hand to hand to a furnace plate; a totem left on the floor for 20 s respawns its Chieftain.
  • 02Gilding: killing Loyalist automata stacks Gilding. Dormant hull turrets always target the highest-stacked Guardian, so the team rotates who leads the kill count to bait fire away from the door plates.
  • 03Grask is immune while any of his three totems stands. Fire totem takes only Solar damage, shield totem only melee, dark totem only from inside its blight. All three must fall within 30 s or relight.

Phases

  1. 1

    Hull Scrapers

Outer plating in low gravity. Scorn Raiders tear breaches that vent players into space; plug each by depositing a totem in its furnace plate. Three plugged breaches open the gate; a fourth open breach is a wipe.

  2. 2

    Gilded Gallery

A Loyalist hall of dormant turrets. Rotate the Gilding bait while the others hold two door plates for 20 s each. If the bait dies, the doors reset and every turret comes online for 10 s.

  3. 3

    Pipeworks

Digestion tunnels choked with Taken blights. The route only opens while a Guardian stands inside a blight, and blights kill in 8 s, so chain the team through in relay. Six deaths here is a wipe.

  4. 4

    The Kennels

War Beast pens release in waves. Kill the handler Centurion before the third pen opens or the beasts turn immune; each cleared pen powers one of the three locks on Grask's door.

  5. 5

    Grask, the Flenser

The Chieftain in gilded plate. Drop fire, shield and dark totems inside 30 s to open a 30 s damage window. Four relights wake the engine below and end the raid.

Why it works in Destiny

The Leviathan already hosted Scorn and Loyalist remnants in Season of the Haunted, so scavengers gutting the dead ship is a natural next chapter rather than a retcon. Scorn totems, Cabal turrets and Taken blights are tools players read instantly, recombined here into new rules. It needs Level 3 because the drifting hull sections, reactivated ship defenses and a bespoke Chieftain boss go beyond what plates, waves and relics can express.
